Moritaka Mashiro, an average ninth-grade student with a talent for drawing, has given up on his childhood dream of becoming a mangaka following a family tragedy. However, his life takes a turn when his classmate, Akito Takagi, a top student and aspiring writer, discovers Mashiro's artistic talent. Takagi convinces Mashiro to team up with him to create manga, reigniting Mashiro's passion for his art.

Driven by their shared dream, the duo aims to become Japan's greatest mangaka. For Mashiro, success also means fulfilling a personal promise: if their manga gets adapted into an anime, he hopes to marry his crush, Miho Azuki, who dreams of becoming a voice actress. Together, under the pen name Muto Ashirogi, Mashiro and Takagi embark on a journey filled with challenges and aspirations, striving to leave their mark on the world of manga.
