Kaijuu 8-gou

Kafka Hibino's life is far from the heroic dreams of his childhood. Working as a cleaner for kaiju remains, he feels the sting of his unfulfilled ambition—especially as his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, has become a celebrated officer in the Japan Defense Force, the very position he aspired to. Kafka's mundane existence takes an unimaginable turn when a bizarre encounter leaves him with the power to transform into a kaiju himself. Dubbed "Kaijuu No. 8" by the Defense Force, Kafka faces the bizarre reality of being part monster in a society that fears them. With his new powers, he sees a renewed chance to fulfill his dream, not by destroying kaiju, but by using his new identity to fight alongside the defenders of Japan.

As Kafka adapts to his abilities and aims to join the Defense Force officially, he forms an unexpected bond with his young and eager coworker, Reno Ichikawa. Together, they navigate the challenges of Kafka's unique condition, focusing on proving his worth to the military and to his heroic friend Mina. With Kafka’s transformation comes a crucial decision: embrace his new monstrous form to protect humanity or struggle with his identity as both man and kaiju. Their journey is fraught with moral dilemmas and physical trials, testing Kafka’s resolve to turn his curse into a force for good.
