Summary
Gene Starwind makes a living taking odd jobs with his young partner, Jim Hawking, until a dangerous assignment pulls them into a conflict involving space pirates and a mysterious woman named Melfina. Their escape leaves them in control of an advanced spacecraft and sets them on a course toward the legendary Galactic Leyline.
As Gene gathers an unlikely crew, the search carries them across the galaxy through bounty hunts, gunfights, assassins, alien worlds, and battles between heavily armed ships. Fast-paced action and playful comedy accompany the larger mystery surrounding Melfina, the vessel, and the forces pursuing them.
