Haibane Renmei

Rakka is born from a large cocoon into the mysterious village of Old Home, greeted by girls with small wings and glowing halos. Soon, her own wings grow, and a halo is placed on her head. She learns that she is now a Haibane and must work in the nearby town of Grie. The town, along with the rest of the world they inhabit, is confined behind a tall, impenetrable Wall, which only the enigmatic Toga are allowed to cross.

As Rakka adjusts to her new life, she becomes curious about the strict rules that govern the Haibane, including the prohibition against approaching the Wall and the mysterious "Day of Flight" when some Haibane disappear. Haibane Renmei follows Rakka's journey as she and her friends in Old Home navigate their existence, uncovering secrets about their pasts and seeking to understand their purpose and destiny.
