Summary
At first glance, Koudo Ikusei Senior High School is an idyllic place where students enjoy freedom and a high level of autonomy, showcased by their ability to style and present themselves however they choose. However, the school’s utopian facade hides a fiercely competitive environment where students are sorted into classes based on merit, from the privileged Class A down to the struggling Class D. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji lands in Class D due to his lackluster performance on the entrance exam and quickly realizes the school’s true nature.
Kiyotaka’s life takes a new turn as he meets two pivotal classmates: Suzune Horikita, who is intent on climbing to Class A to prove she was wrongly categorized, and Kikyou Kushida, who aims to build a harmonious community despite the underlying competitive ethos. Together, they face the school’s rigorous and often ruthless academic hierarchy. Amidst a culture where educational success dictates one’s worth and potential for advancement, Kiyotaka and his peers must navigate challenges that test their intellect, morals, and willpower in their quest to redefine their destinies within this prestigious but polarized institution.
