Summary
In an alternate early-20th-century Kyoto, steam power has filled the city with smoke while dreams of electricity remain out of reach. Kihachi Sakamoto once imagined a brighter future with his older brother, but loss leaves him bitter and distant from that dream.
His meeting with Inako Momokawa, a sake brewer's daughter facing pressures of her own, brings the lost 20th Century Electrical Catalog back into the story. Their search around Kyoto becomes a historical adventure about grief, young hope, and the fragile possibility of choosing a different future.
