Sakamichi no Apollon

In the summer of 1966, high school freshman Kaoru Nishimi moves to Kyushu due to his father's job, preparing himself for another lonely year in a new town. An introverted classical pianist and top student, Kaoru's world begins to change when he meets the notorious bad boy Sentaro Kawabuchi. Through Sentaro's influence, Kaoru discovers the vibrant world of jazz music and finds his first true friend.

As Kaoru starts playing jazz piano at after-school sessions in the basement of Ritsuko Mukae's family-owned record shop, he begins to break out of his shell. Alongside Sentaro and Ritsuko, Kaoru experiences the joys of friendship, love, and music. Set against the backdrop of a seaside town infused with American culture, this heartwarming story follows three unique individuals brought together by their mutual appreciation for jazz, as they navigate the complexities of youth and personal growth.
