In the supernatural-infused 19th century, Aya Rindo, an immortal disembodied head, travels through Europe with her half-human-half-demon partner, Tsugaru Shunichi, known as the "Demon Killer," and her devoted maid Shizuku Hasei. Together, they operate as "The Cage User," a supernatural detective agency that solves enigmatic mysteries across a continent teeming with vampires, werewolves, and other paranormal beings. Their journey is not only about solving crimes but also a personal quest for Aya to find her lost body and for Tsugaru to reclaim his lost humanity.

Their travels lead them to France, where they are hired by the vampire noble Jean Duchet Godard to investigate the murder of his wife, a case neglected by human authorities. As they delve into the intricacies of the paranormal underworld, Aya and Tsugaru encounter a series of complex challenges that test their abilities and force them to confront their own mysterious pasts.
