Natsume Yuujinchou
Natsume's Book of Friends
Summary
Takashi Natsume has spent most of his life feeling out of place, burdened by a secret he can’t easily share: he sees youkai that remain invisible to everyone else. When he moves to the countryside and stumbles upon a mysterious heirloom tied to his late grandmother, Natsume finds himself pulled into a quiet world of spirits, old grudges, and forgotten promises—often with a sharp-tongued guardian in the shape of a chubby cat at his side.
Rather than chasing battles or power, the series follows Natsume as he navigates gentle encounters between humans and youkai, learning what it means to belong. With a calming, healing atmosphere and a focus on empathy, memory, and growing up, it’s a supernatural slice-of-life that trades spectacle for heartfelt stories that linger.
