Summary
The release of Elder Tale's twelfth expansion pack takes a surprising turn when thirty thousand players, including the socially awkward Shiroe and his friends, are transported into the game’s world, unable to log out. Faced with the shocking new reality that Elder Tale is no longer just a game but now their actual environment, players must learn to cope with the tangible aspects of the world they once navigated from behind computer screens. This includes dealing with NPCs that now have their own wills and societies, as well as the peculiarities of in-game food and death mechanics.
Shiroe, known for his analytical skills and strategic thinking, quickly assumes a leadership role. Along with Naotsugu, who finds himself logged in for the first time in years, and Akatsuki, a formidable assassin who becomes a close ally, Shiroe endeavors to make sense of this new world. "Log Horizon" follows their journey as they attempt to bring order to the chaos, set up a functioning society within Akihabara, and possibly find a way back to their old lives, all while facing challenges that test their newfound existence and the bonds they form along the way.
