Summary
Makoto Edamura, also known as "Edamame", is in for a wild ride when he gets tricked by a tourist. He finds himself running from the police and following the tourist to Los Angeles. The tourist, Laurent Thierry, turns out to be a con man and challenges Makoto to a competition to see who is the better scammer. Makoto accepts the challenge and follows Laurent to various cities.
In Great Pretender, Makoto and Laurent's team travel around the globe, trying to outsmart their targets in the world of international fraud. Makoto is tested and pushed to the limits as he learns more about his craft and discovers what he is truly capable of.
