Summary
Seven years ago, a legendary fighter named Joe became the champion of the first ever Megalonia tournament. He won using a form of boxing called Megalo Box, where competitors wear metal frames called Gear. After his victory, Joe lost an exhibition match and suddenly vanished from the public eye.
Now known as "Nomad", Joe keeps a low profile, only occasionally fighting in underground matches to get by. He is haunted by hallucinations and relies on painkillers to numb his mind.
One day, Joe wins a match against an opponent called Chief. Chief had purposefully lost for some extra cash from gamblers. Joe discovers that Chief is from a community of immigrants called the Casa, and that Chief is trying to make enough money to buy the land where they live illegally. Despite his hesitation, Joe decides to help the Casa.
