Summary
Manta Oyamada is a regular middle school student who one day takes a shortcut through the local cemetery. While there, he meets You Asakura, a Shaman-in-training. You reveals he can communicate with ghosts, and even teams up with the ghost of a 600-year-old samurai, Amidamaru, to save Manta from a group of thugs. You befriends Manta due to his ability to see spirits.
You has a goal to become the next Shaman King. Every 500 years, shamans from all over the world compete in a prestigious tournament called the Shaman Fight. The winner of this tournament is crowned Shaman King, and is given the power to shape the world as they wish. With the help of Amidamaru, Manta and You set off on a quest to fulfill You's goal and become the next Shaman King.
