Saitama University graduate students Shinya Yukimura and Ayame Himuro went to Okinawa on a trip and couldn't get the data they needed to scientifically prove their love for each other. With no luck replicating the exact conditions of the trip, they went to their university's Biological Sciences department for help.

Yukimura and Himuro were assisted by Chris Floret and Suiu Fujiwara, two fellow graduate students and longtime couple. They tried to measure their feelings by measuring their output of oxytocin in various romantic situations. It quickly became clear that their feelings weren't as strong as a mature couple's.

Chris posed a question to Yukimura and Himuro - what would they do if their "affection" wasn't love after all? To find a scientific explanation for the discrepancy, Yukimura was willing to put everything on the line to prove that their "love" was real.
