At Kimberly Magic Academy, the spring season marks the beginning of an exciting yet perilous journey for new students, including the disciplined samurai, Nanao Hibiya, and the enigmatic scholar, Oliver Horn. As cherry blossoms bloom around the academy, these two distinct personalities forge an unlikely alliance. The academy, renowned for its magical prowess and celebrated traditions, holds a darker reality, with only four out of every five students surviving until graduation. Soon after their arrival, Nanao and Oliver, along with other students, face life-threatening challenges that test their skills and courage.

The duo's early encounters at Kimberly include saving a peer from a monstrous troll and navigating the deadly labyrinths beneath the school, experiences that bring them closer and reveal the depths of the academy's mysteries. As Oliver leads their group through various magical and physical trials, Nanao confronts the demons of her past, struggling to adapt to her new life as a student.
