Summary
It's been 100 years since the invention of "true magic," which was once thought to be an impossible, mythical feat. In Japan, there are nine schools of magic, and two talented siblings--Miyuki and Tatsuya Shiba--attend the First National Magic University Affiliated High School, known as "First High".
At First High, students are divided into two groups--Course 1 and Course 2--based on their test scores. Course 1 students, who consider themselves "Blooms," often look down on Course 2 students, who they label as "Weeds." Tatsuya is placed in Course 2, while Miyuki enters Course 1 as an honor student.
Miyuki longs to prove to First High that her brother is one of the finest magicians around, despite his Course 2 placement. Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei retells the story of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei from the perspective of the female characters, particularly from Miyuki's point of view.
