Jouran: The Princess of Snow and Blood

In 1931, Tokugawa Shogunate was still ruling Japan; 64th year of Meiji era. They had discovery of a new energy source, "Dragon Vein", and the government was using it to move the country forward. As part of this process, an elite group of executioners, known as "Nue", was formed to protect the Shogunate from a rebel group named "Kuchinawa".

Sawa Yukimura was the owner of the Tsuyukasa Bookshop. She ran the shop during the day, but in secret she was looking for revenge against the person who killed her tribe and family. She was granted a special power that allowed her to transform, and when Nue promised her information on the person responsible, she decided to join them. That person was Janome, the leader of Kuchinawa.
