Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari

Naofumi Iwatani, an otaku, is one of the four summoned heroes sent to save the kingdom of Melromarc from the Waves of Catastrophe. Armed with only a shield, he is considered weak and is disrespected by the other heroes and the people of the kingdom. Despite the odds being stacked against him, Naofumi sets out to train and prove himself. In his journey, he is betrayed and falsely accused of taking advantage of somebody, which causes the people of Melromarc to hate him. To fight for the kingdom's survival, Naofumi rescues Raphtalia, a demi-human on the verge of death, and together they battle the Waves.

Naofumi's journey is a story about overcoming prejudice and adversity. With his shield, he and Raphtalia battle to protect the kingdom and its people from a fate of destruction. Will Naofumi and Raphtalia be able to save the kingdom and prove his worth to his fellow heroes and the people?
